Physician Demographic Bridge

The physicians Practice Management System (PMS) contains the most accurate patient demographic and insurance information. The Demographic Bridge is a software interface that connects the physician's PMS and the laboratory ordering system. Laboratories can establish connectivity to physician office systems from any application regardless of the physical location, network accessibility, or operating system.

Advantages

Eliminates retyping of patient demographic and insurance information into the laboratory ordering system while placing a laboratory order.

Customizable Test Menu

In the Lab Order/Results Portal Administrative Application, users can create test templates/panels with the most frequently ordered tests and assign them to each user or location. If the setting is finalized in the location level, all users logging into the location will see the same test templates/panels defined for the location in the order entry menu. This function facilitates ease of order entry and prevents users from selecting the wrong tests.

  • Users can define templates for tests related to the physician or his/her clinical practice specialty
  • Users can also define templates by clinical discipline such as chemistry, microbiology, and hematology

Imaging & Storage

An integrated component of the RCM Outreach solution is the Media module, which enables users to upload and view documents associated with a particular order or patient. The Media module saves valuable FTE time by eliminating the need to file, store, and retrieve paper documents, storing them electronically within the order or at the patient level. Additionally, users can also view clinical images (e.g., pathology, radiology) from the Media module.

The Media module acts as a document management system for the LIS. Anything scanned (e.g., requisitions, insurance cards, etc.) can be "tied" to a patient or an order. Like most document management systems, users can apply attributes to these documents and send an external link to a document via interface to an HIS.

Future enhancements will include special functionality to allow users to scan reference test reports as "results." Currently, users can scan in results; however, just like any other document, it would be tied to the patient or order.

Standing / Recurring / Future Orders

Recurring / Order / Entry (ROE) module allows users to choose from setting up a variety of flexible patterns for cycling orders (including predefined patterns), entering cycling criteria, or selecting dates on the calendar to cycle recurring orders. This optimizes users’ time and efforts, reducing the amount of data entry needed per patient.

The ROE module minimizes repetitive keystroke errors and helps optimize workflow in the laboratory. ROE module has a robust calendar feature, which displays current and future orders at-a-glance. The calendar allows editing of times and dates for existing orders, and accommodates the setup and viewing of up to four years into the future. Modifications of the calendar feature are planned because federal and state regulations vary.

Added features include:

  • User-defined patterning methods for appropriate workflows
  • Choose from multiple recurring order types, including standing, future, or recurring
  • Users have the option to define how the orders will be released
  • Management reports available to help monitor patient's orders
